Dear Neighbors,
The legislative session is just around the corner and I can’t wait to get started! We’ll be sworn in on January 3rd and I look forward to getting to work with my new and returning colleagues. Not much will change on your end; my office, email, and phone number will all remain the same so feel free to contact me as always.
Also around the corner is the beginning of new laws, which’ll take place on January 1st. Overall these laws won’t change too much, but one around prenatal care may be of interest. Health plans will be required to cover:
Washington Visit
In addition to advocating for environmental policy at the White House, I was also able to meet with two congresswomen, including our Representative, Angie Craig. Congresswoman McCollum and Craig were a pleasure as always and I hope our meeting can help our state receive the resources it needs to protect the environment. I also met with the Canadian Consul General to Minnesota and we discussed how we can be good partners from across borders.
Here is another picture of my visit to the White House including more of the people we met with. The woman in the grey in the middle is the Chair of the Council of Environment, Brenda Mallory. A critical figure in advancing environmental policy at the Capitol.
Happy Holidays
While in D.C. I attended the Christmas tree lighting at the Canadian embassy. It was a great way to usher in the holiday season. With the first day of Hanukkah only five days away I would also like to wish all those who celebrate a Happy Hanukkah! I hope everyone has a joyful holiday season!
