Dear Neighbors,
I hope you’ve had a great week, and are looking forward to a fun (and hopefully long) holiday weekend. Here’s a quick update from the Capitol, as well as our area.
KinderCare Visit
On Wednesday, I was fortunate to visit the KinderCare facility in Coon Rapids for a tour. This facility has programs for infants, all the way up to before-and-after-school initiatives for ages 5-12. It was great seeing how some of our youngest learners are getting an early start on the educational process. The future certainly looks bright!
Property Tax Town Hall Meeting
On Friday, February 26, Rep. Abigail Whelan and I will host a town hall meeting with Property Tax and Local Government Finance Division chairman Rep. Steve Drazkowski. I invite all of you to join us at Anoka City Hall at 5:00 p.m. to discuss property tax issues. Last year, the House passed a great package of property tax relief for families around the state. Unfortunately, Democrats’ insistence on a gas tax pushed the tax bill back to this year. Please come with questions, and tell us how we can help you in St. Paul.
Around Town
I recently met with officials from the City of Ramsey to discuss their priorities for the upcoming session. I enjoy speaking with our local governments to find a way the state can assist our area. When session starts on March 8, I look forward to continuing to represent this community at the Capitol.
Don’t forget to check out the 2016 Coon Rapids Snowflake Days celebration. It runs until this Sunday, February 14; feel free to find more information here.
It’s a couple weeks away, but I wanted to remind you of the Special Olympics Polar Plunge on February 27 at Cross Lake Park. This is a fun event, and it’s for a great cause. You can sign up or learn more here.
We’re just a few weeks from the start of the legislative session, and I’d love to hear your opinion on the issues that matter to you most. If you would like to contact me, please call 651-296-4231 or email me at rep.peggy.scott@house.mn.
Have a great weekend!
Peggy
