RENEWAL REMINDER FOR REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONALS

The Minnesota Department of Commerce recently issued a press release reminding real estate professionals and collection agencies to renew licenses, and bullion coin dealers to register by June 30

SAINT PAUL, MN – It’s that time of year again!  The Minnesota Department of Commerce is reminding real estate professionals and debt collectors with a license expiration date of June 30, 2014 to set some time aside and submit their renewal by June 30, 2014, 4:30 p.m. CST.

This renewal reminder also includes the following licensees that have a June 30, 2014 expiration:

·         abstracters,

·         abstracter companies,

·         real estate brokers,

·         real estate salespersons,

·         real estate companies,

·         closing agents,

·         limited brokers,

·         collection agencies, and

·         debt collectors.

“To help streamline the process, renewals are now done entirely online,” said Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman. “Reminders have been sent to individuals responsible for these licenses and we hope everyone renews before their license lapses.”

The Commerce Department has created helpful instructions and information for online license renewals.  Information about the 2014 license renewal process for real estate professionals can be found on the Commerce Department’s website;  2014 renewal information for collection agencies and debt collectors can also be found online; and all license renewals are now completed online at www.pulseportal.com

A couple of important items to note:

  • New this year, Bullion Coin Dealers must be licensed by July 1, 2014.  The step-by-step instructions for how to apply for registration can be found on the Commerce Department website.  The website also contains helpful information about surety bond requirements, a glossary of bullion coin related terms and a checklist to ensure you are following the Minnesota Coin Dealer Law.

  • Renewing a broker, salesperson, or real estate company license is done by the responsible broker.

  • Salespersons should make sure that the broker who holds their license has all the information necessary to complete the salesperson's renewal, including verification that the salesperson has completed all of the applicable continuing education (CE) requirements. Continuing Education transcripts are available for review at www.pulseportal.com.

  • Future renewal reminder notices will be sent only by e-mail. Licensees must ensure that they have submitted a current e-mail address to the Minnesota Department of Commerce for business use through PULSE Portal (Minn. Stat. §45.0112).
