Dear Neighbor,
As we approach the holidays and the beginning of the next legislative session, I wanted to give you an update on what we, the legislature and the governor, as well as the federal government need to do to curb the out-of-control health insurance cost increases.
I hear from folks in our community every day who are struggling to pay their outrageous health insurance premiums and deductibles; this is wrong. While I am heartbroken that it appears a special session will not be called by the Governor to address these costs, I am optimistic this will be the number one priority in the 2017 legislative session. We need to enact some serious reforms, such as repealing MNsure and moving to the federal exchange, so Minnesota taxpayers can stop paying for the operation of a failed MNsure system.
Please see the email (below) that I received from a member of our community:
Remember, this problem stems from total Democratic legislative control and a Democrat President who passed and signed Obamacare into law, as well as Minnesota Democrats who were some of the first in the country to embrace this debacle and bring it to our state. I am extremely hopeful that the new White House Administration will reform Obamacare because real relief must come in the form of long term solutions from Washington.
As always, please be sure to let me know your thoughts regarding this issue or any other related to state government. It would be great to speak with you! I can be reached by phone at 651-296-3201 or via email at rep.mary.franson@house.mn.
I truly represent the best!
Have a great weekend,
Mary
