Greetings,
The sun has set on another beautiful Minnesota summer. I hope yours was filled with memories that you will cherish forever.
School Supplies Tax Incentives:
I want to remind you that Minnesota has tax incentives to help lower the annual expense of school supplies; Minnesota has both a tax credit and subtraction for education expenses, so make sure to save your receipts!
Items that qualify are: writing utensils, textbooks, musical instrument rentals, as well as other school supplies. While the education subtraction is not subject to income limits, the credit is limited to households with incomes less than $37,500 with 1-2 children, $39,500 with 3 children, and adding $2,000 per child for households with 4 or more children. According to the Department of Revenue, nearly 200,000 families took advantage of the education subtraction with more than 43,000 families taking advantage of the education credit, saving an average of $242.

Good luck to all students, teachers, coaches, administration, and staff on a successful 2017-2018 school year! Our community’s schools do such an amazing job with our youth.
Kahllin (5th grade) and Karl (6th grade) couldn’t wait to get back to school today!
