Dear Friends,
I hope you and your family have had a great summer so far. I have really enjoyed traveling around our district to attend events and meet and interact with members of our community. Being out and about in the community always reminds me of the countless reasons why our area is such a great place to call home!
New Laws
Although the governor’s harmful and highly politicized vetoes reduced the number of new laws that were enacted this year, a number of new laws that passed during the 2018 session took effect on July 1. Click here for more information on some of these new laws. Among these news laws is the bill that I authored to license athletic trainers in Minnesota, which will better protect the public by now requiring background checks for trainers seeking licensure.
In addition, a handful of other new laws are set to take effect on August 1. For information on these new laws, click here. I am especially proud that two of these new laws are the direct result of two bills that I authored to protect health savings accounts from creditors as well as to save childcare providers thousands of dollars by repealing the positive supports training rule – a burdensome government regulation.
Please Contact Me
Thank you for your visits, calls, and emails during the legislative session and summer. In order to best represent our district in the legislature, it is crucial that I hear our community’s varying views on the issues that come before me. Again, thank you for taking the time to reach out and share your ideas with me.
Tomorrow marks the start of a moratorium on legislative email updates. Because of a 60-day, post-session rule, I won’t be sending updates for a few months. In the meantime, I would like to encourage you to directly contact me if you have any questions or concerns or if there’s any way I can assist you or your family. I look forward to hearing from you and I can be reached via phone at 651-296-3201 or by email at rep.mary.franson@house.mn.
I represent the best!
