FRANSON RESPONDS TO WALZ ADMINISTRATION’S LICENSED CHILDCARE PROVIDER SNUB
ST. PAUL – In an email sent April 25th, the Walz administration declined to carry on the 32-year tradition of naming the week of May 4th Licensed Child Care Provider Week.
“The Walz administration’s blatant disregard for the importance of licensed childcare providers is staggering,” said Franson. “At a time when we have a serious shortage of licensed child care providers, to refuse this simple gesture to recognize all the good they do for our communities is shameful. They deserve better.”
Minnesota has over 7,800 Licensed Family Child Care Providers caring for more than 100,000 infants and children and providing high-quality Early Childhood Education. The tradition of proclaiming a week in honor of family childcare providers began in 1988 with Governor Rudy Perpich.
