ST. PAUL – State Rep. Mary Franson (R-Alexandria) issued the following statement after the release of the health insurance premium rates for the 2014-2015 open enrollment period. The Department of Commerce announced Wednesday that the lowest cost MNsure premium option would increase over 20%.
“Nothing has been affordable about the implementation of Obamacare in Minnesota,” said Franson. “We were told that establishing our own Obamacare exchange in Minnesota would drop the average premium by 30%. Instead, we’re facing a 20% increase for those choosing a low cost option. To make matters worse while Minnesota families struggle with healthcare costs, Obamacare executives in Minnesota got paid $26,000 in bonuses last year under a compensation plan approved by Democrats in the legislature. It’s clear that Obamacare has not been working for Minnesota families.”
