Crookston, MINN—Representative Deb Kiel, R-Crookston, is congratulating the city of East Grand Forks for securing a $5.3 million grant for improvements to its wastewater system which will interconnect with Grand Forks, North Dakota. Rep. Kiel carried bonding legislation in 2017, enabling the upgrades. The funding was approved by the Legislature and awarded through the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority.
“The wastewater system interconnect across the Minnesota/North Dakota border is an important infrastructure need in East Grand Forks and a project I was proud to champion at the Legislature last session,” said Rep. Kiel. “I am pleased that we were able to secure funding for this project, along with other critical infrastructure and transportation needs in Northwest Minnesota and across the state. Thank you to local leaders in East Grand Forks who were instrumental in moving this project forward, helping make the wastewater system more efficient and effective for residents.”
