Dear Friends and Neighbors,
We had a number of folks come to visit the Capitol this week including Polk County Public Health, the Soybean Growers, Electric Co-ops, AFSCME, Thief River Falls, and more. Here is an update from St. Paul.
National Agriculture Day
On Tuesday, we celebrated National Agriculture Day, and I want to thank all of our hardworking farmers, ranchers and folks who help feed the world. Your work is vital to our economy and way of life in Northwest Minnesota.
Thank you for all that you do!
MNLARS Update
For folks in our area who have run into trouble dealing with our broken licensing system MNLARS, I have another update. This week the Legislature passed legislation to provide the first requested funding for fixes, while placing a number of critical oversight measures in place.
Taxpayers have already spent a whopping $93 million on MNLARS, and folks are rightly upset that the program still isn’t working. We need accountability from the Dayton Administration, and that’s why our bill implements needed reforms to ensure better oversight of tax dollars as we move forward.
This is a critical issue for citizens, as well as many of our local deputy registrars who have been badly hurt by the MNLARS debacle.
It’s important we get this fixed for folks. I will keep you updated.
