ST. PAUL – Rep. Tim O’Driscoll (R-Sartell) ranks near the top for effective legislating, according to an analysis done by the non-partisan League of Minnesota Cities. The analysis shows that O’Driscoll places second among members of the House for most bills signed into law in 2015.
Five of the bills chief authored by O’Driscoll were signed into law this year. The highest total number of bills chief-authored by a House member that were signed into law stands at six.
“I’m proud of the work I’ve done to reform energy efficiency standards, the mortgage foreclosure process, and our pension system in Minnesota,” said O’Driscoll.
O’Driscoll’s pension reform legislation passed unanimously in the House, moved through the Senate with broad bipartisan support, and was signed by the governor on May 22.
Beginning August 1, another law authored by Rep. O’Driscoll is scheduled to take effect. This new energy conservation policy adds “water metering devices that increase efficiency or accuracy” to the list of energy conservation measures that may be used in a guaranteed energy savings contract. The goal of this new law is to find operational cost savings in local government units through implementing energy conservation measures.
O’Driscoll, who is in his third term in the House, holds the leadership position of Speaker Pro Tempore and chairs the Legislative Commission on Pensions & Retirement. Additionally, his committee assignments include Capital Investment, Government Operations & Election Policy, Rules & Legislative Administration, Veterans Affairs, and the Commerce & Regulatory Affairs where he serves as vice chair.
