Greetings,
I wanted to quickly get in touch and give a short update on a topic you’ve likely read about: REAL ID. First, I understand that many are concerned with this issue, but I assure you, there’s nothing to worry about.
Just this afternoon, the Department of Homeland Security announced that REAL ID will not be required to board an airplane until January 22, 2018 at the EARLIEST. If states are still not in full compliance, they can apply for extensions all the way up until October 2020. This means we can take the proper steps in the upcoming legislative session to research and implement REAL ID while still working to protect your private information.
I’ll be in touch early next week with more details, but wanted to ensure folks that their travel plans will not be interrupted. If you still have questions, please contact my office.
Sincerely,
Tim
