Greetings,
Today marks the third committee deadline at the Minnesota Legislature. Basically, most major spending proposals must have received a positive committee vote in order for it to move forward during the rest of this session.
COMMERCE BILLS MOVING AHEAD
In the commerce committee where I serve as co-chair, both a policy and finance bill have been approved and are moving ahead in other committees. With a 67-67 tie in the House, it was important for our legislation to be bipartisan for them to advance. Both bills are very straight forward, and when they reach the House floor, I am anticipating little opposition.
BENTON COUNTY PROPOSAL HEARD IN CAPTIAL INVESTMENT COMMITTEE
This week, the House capital investment committee heard my Benton County Road 1 proposal. In addition to the improvements that are being made at the Sauk Rapids-Rice High School campus, safety upgrades on County Road 1 will be needed for increased traffic. My bill would secure capital investment funds for this purpose, and it is strongly supported by Benton County, the City of Sauk Rapids, and the Sauk Rapids-Rice School District.
The bill was held over for possible inclusion in a comprehensive capital investment proposal that could be unveiled later this session.
EASTER/PASSOVER BREAK
With the third committee deadline now behind us, lawmakers have begun the Easter/Passover break. During this time, I will be meeting with different constituent groups around town. Following break, expect finance bills to receive full debate on the House floor.
KEEP IN TOUCH
As always, I'm continuing to support constituent needs. Feel free to contact me anytime at rep.tim.odriscoll@house.mn.gov or by phone at 651-296-7808.
Have a good weekend,
Tim
