Greetings –
As we wait to reconvene today’s House floor session, I wanted to give you a quick update on budget negotiations.
We have reached a tentative agreement with the Senate on our budget targets. Although the state is projected to have a $2 billion surplus, we don’t have those dollars yet, and must budget responsibly for the future. While conference committees meet to deliberate over their bills, I’m confident that our budget targets provide the starting point for sensible spending.
I will continue to stay in touch throughout the weekend to share news as we continue to fulfill our responsibility to outline the state budget for the next biennium.
