ST. PAUL – State Representative Joe Schomacker (R-Luverne) is sponsoring legislation that would expand the Red Rock Rural Water System into northeast Murray County.
“We want to make sure we have a reliable source of clean water available to the roughly 8,500 residents in this area that are living without it,” Schomacker said.
Under Schomacker’s proposal, $5.57 million in bonding proceeds would be dedicated to the Red Rock Rural Water System to construct and equip new and improved water infrastructure. Residents in Currie, Avoca, and Lake Shetek, including the state park, would benefit.
Schomacker said a clean water source is critical in order for these communities to thrive.
“This project been in the works for a couple of years, and the studies have been completed,” Schomacker said. “I’m hopeful we will get this bill passed this session.”
