Dear Neighbors,
Happy holidays. From the Swedzinski family to yours, here is wishing you a joyous holiday season, with a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
The start of 2018 also means the legislative session will soon begin on Feb. 20. I always welcome your questions or concerns and your feedback is greatly appreciated as we prepare to convene at the Capitol, where a great number of challenges await our return. It is an honor to serve the great people of District 16A.
On a more official subject, the Minnesota Department of Human Services is seeking proposals from eligible applicants for grant funding to implement programs that improve accessibility and quality of community-based, outpatient mental health service for adults.
According to a release from DHS, the purpose of the grant is to expedite the optimal care for persons with mental illness while freeing up capacity to serve people that truly need hospital-level care.
This is a good chance for people who suffer from mental illness to tap into helpful resources that can make positive differences in their lives. A certain amount of the grant funding will be issued to residents of Greater Minnesota, so it would be good to see people from our area take advantage by submitting proposals.”
This grant was established by a provision included in a health and human services omnibus bill enacted earlier this year. Half the grant funds will be awarded to eligible applications in the metro and half will be awarded to applications outside the metro. The proposal request can be viewed in full here. All proposals must be submitted by 4 p.m., Jan. 8.
Once again, have a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Please be safe out on the roads.
Sincerely,
Chris
