ST. PAUL – State Rep. Chris Swedzinski, R-Ghent, announces a pair of Legacy Amendment grants have been awarded by the Minnesota Historical Society to support projects in the city of Madison.
The city of Madison is receiving $45,180 to hire a qualified consultant to develop architectural renderings for Madison City Hall, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Another $28,700 goes to the Lac qui Parle County Historical Society for work related to its heating, ventilating and air conditioning.
“Congratulations to those involved in preparing these successful applications,” Swedzinski said. “I look forward to seeing this funding put to good use by preserving historic resources in District 16A so that future generations may enjoy the cultural benefits they provide.”
Funding for the grants is from the Legacy Amendment’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. In fiscal year 2018, $4.5 million is available for projects such as these which pertain to history programs, projects or preservation of resources.
