Rep. Swedzinski looks for tax relief in 2020 session

Tuesday, February 11, 2020

ST. PAUL – Minnesota’s 2020 legislative session began Tuesday and Rep. Chris Swedzinski, R-Ghent, said the state’s $1.3 billion surplus sets the stage for tax relief this year.

“It’s really good to be back in St. Paul working on behalf of folks from Southwestern Minnesota,” Swedzinski said. “We’ve got a lot of work to do. We have a potential bonding bill, and then also will be dealing with the surplus. We’ve done a very diligent job of putting money away in the rainy day fund and our biggest job is going to be returning those surplus dollars to the folks who earned them. The Section 179 exchange fixes, Social Security and those types of taxes that we need to be looking at eliminating in the state of Minnesota. Our focus this session is really going to be getting government to be responsible with the dollars they have.”

Swedzinski said he welcomes correspondence throughout the session and encourages District 16A residents to call (651) 296-5374 or email rep.chris.swedzinski@house.mn to get in touch.
