SWEDZINSKI: WALZ SHOULD TELL BIDEN TO STOP WAR ON AMERICAN ENERGY

Thursday, November 18, 2021

GHENT, MN — On Thursday, Governor Walz is set to participate in a White House "winter readiness" event which will address rising winter energy costs. Winter energy costs are projected to soar this winter as a direct result of inflationary pressures and anti-energy policies promoted by the Biden administration. Rep. Chris Swedzinski, R-Ghent, Republican Lead on the House Climate and Energy Committee, issued the following statement regarding the White House event.

"Gov. Walz should use today's event to tell the White House to stop their war on American energy," Swedzinski said. "The Biden administration has shut down pipelines and halted oil and gas leases, while begging OPEC to increase production and greenlighting Russian pipelines. These failed Biden-Walz energy policies are hurting Americans and Minnesotans who are going to feel the pinch this winter just to keep their homes warm."

Since taking office last year, the Biden administration has taken numerous actions that have gutted American domestic energy production including:

In addition, Democrats have been pushing anti-energy policies as part of the reconciliation package, including new taxes on natural gas, new taxes on methane, solar mandates, and further reducing mining and energy production. Here in Minnesota, Gov. Walz has expressed support for expensive new energy mandates that would threaten the reliability of our energy grid and send prices even higher, even as energy companies raise prices to compensate for less efficient and more expensive green energy investments.

"With inflation at 30 year highs and the cost of gas and groceries going up, Minnesotans deserve meaningful solutions, not band-aids designed to protect falling poll numbers," Swedzinski concluded.
