ST. PAUL – State Rep. Chris Swedzinski, R-Ghent, returned to the Capitol on Tuesday to perform the oath of office in the Minnesota House of Representatives as the 93rd Legislature was installed.
Swedzinski was re-elected to the House in November. He serves the newly configured District 15A seat. The district’s largest cities include Marshall, Tracy, Granite Falls, Canby, Dawson, Cottonwood, Madison and Minneota.
Swedzinski recently gained an appointment to continue serving as the lead Republican on the House Climate and Energy Finance and Policy Committee. Swedzinski has served multiple terms on committees related to energy, evaluating policies of the state and assessing the overall impacts on Minnesotans. It is his third consecutive stint as the top House Republican on this subject. In addition, Swedzinski will serve on House Taxes Committee.
“It’s good to get back to the Capitol to start the session and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue representing the people of our area in the House,” Swedzinski said. “I’m ready to get busy addressing the many challenges we face this session, starting with decisions related to the state’s massive surplus of $17.6 billion and growing. These dollars need to be returned to the taxpayers who have been overcharged and that will be my recurring message to the committee on taxes.”
Swedzinski said he welcomes correspondence throughout the session and encourages District 15A residents to call (651) 296-5374 or email rep.chris.swedzinski@house.mn to get in touch. He also provides periodic email updates and citizens can sign up to receive them on his personal page at the official House website: www.house.mn.
