Swedzinski back at Capitol to start 2025 session

Tuesday, January 14, 2025

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Chris Swedzinski, R-Ghent, returned to the Capitol on Tuesday to perform the oath of office in the Minnesota House of Representatives as a member of the 94th Legislature.

Swedzinski was re-elected to the House in November. He serves District 15A, including Marshall, Tracy, Granite Falls, Canby, Dawson, Cottonwood, Madison and Minneota.

Swedzinski recently gained an appointment to chair the House Energy Finance and Policy Committee. He has extensive experience serving House committees related to energy, evaluating policies of the state and assessing the overall impacts on Minnesotans. It is Swedzinski’s fourth consecutive term as the top House Republican on this subject. He also will serve on Taxes, and Ways and Means this biennium.

“This is an important session, particularly as we restore balance at the Capitol after two years of one-party control enacting reckless spending increases, unnecessary tax hikes and wildly extreme policy measures,” Swedzinski said. “The good news is House Republicans are at the Capitol, ready work, so we can have a fast start to the new session addressing the issues everyday Minnesotans care about most.”

Swedzinski said House Republicans recently shared a list of priorities for the 2025 legislative session. They include:

  • Stop the Fraud
  • Make Minnesota Affordable
  • Make Minnesota Safe
  • Raise Standards, Reduce Mandates
  • Minnesota Tax Dollars for Minnesotans
  • Build for the Future

Swedzinski said he welcomes correspondence throughout the session and encourages District 15A residents to call (651) 296-5374 or email rep.chris.swedzinski@house.mn to get in touch. He also invites people to follow him at www.facebook.com/RepChrisSwedzinski/ for legislative updates and notes.
