St. Paul – On Friday, the House passed an omnibus supplemental tax bill that includes a provision for the Marshall Library.
Rep. Swedzinski, R-Ghent authored the provision which will provide a sales tax exemption for building materials and supplies donated for construction of an addition to the Marshall Library. The exemption is limited to materials and supplies used in construction occurring after April 1, 2014, and before July 1, 2015.
“The Marshall Library is an excellent resource for people in my district, and this small provision will help private entities donating materials for much needed improvements,” said Rep. Swedzinski. “This exemption is commonsense and moved through the committee process with bipartisan support.”
The final negotiations on the tax bill were done in a conference committee between the House and Senate after different versions of the bill went through the House and Senate earlier this spring. The bill will go to Governor Dayton for signature.
The legislature must complete work by May 19, 2014.
