Rep. Chris Swedzinski Appointed to Legislative Energy Commission
St. Paul, MN- Assistant Majority Leader, Rep. Chris Swedzinski (R-Ghent), has been appointed to serve a two year term on the state’s Legislative Energy Commission by House Speaker Kurt Daudt (R-Crown).
The Legislative Energy Commission was created by the Legislature in 2008. The commission evaluates the energy policies of the state, assessing the impact on the future of the environment and the economy. The commission also monitors the state’s progress in achieving goals to develop renewable sources of energy and reviews and recommends proposed energy legislation and hear public testimony.
“Rep. Swedzinski is a leading voice in our caucus on energy issues,” said Speaker Kurt Daudt. “As a farmer and rural member, Rep. Swedzinski brings a unique perspective to the commission on Minnesota’s energy policies and how it affects Greater Minnesota.”
Swedzinski, who previously served on the commission during the 2013-2014 legislative session, is looking forward to serving once again. “I have always been passionate about energy issues and how it affects farmers and those of us in rural Minnesota,” said Swedzinski. “I am eager to be given the opportunity to continue our important work making energy accessible and affordable for all Minnesotans.”
The commission is comprised of ten senators and ten representatives with equal representation from both parties. Please visit the commission’s website, http://www.lec.leg.mn/, for more information on legislation coming before the commission and upcoming meetings.
