Legislative Update from Rep. Swedzinski

Monday, February 9, 2015

Dear Neighbor,

I am excited to update you on some of the events that took place here in St. Paul this past week.

Dairy Day at the Capitol

This past Wednesday was Dairy Day at the Capitol. Dairy Day is a long-standing tradition at the Capitol. People from the Ag Industry come to St. Paul to meet with legislators and discuss dairy issues.

It is always good to see so many dairy farmers fill the halls of the Capitol on days like this and I encourage any constituents who will be in St. Paul over the next several months to stop by my office. It would be wonderful to meet with you.

Bill Introductions

I recently introduced House File 441. This bill would require all taxes collected from rental cars to be deposited into the state’s Corridors of Commerce program. The Corridors of Commerce program is designed to improve existing roads around the state that are especially important to the economic vitality of our state. This bill requires that money from taxes generated from rental car sales would be used to help fund this program. Finding a long term fix for improving our state’s transportation system is desperately needed. This bill begins that process.

MCCL Legislative Dinner

This year’s Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL) legislative dinner will be held on February 11th. There is still time to sign up and attend if you would like to do so. You can visit here to sign up.
