SAINT PAUL, Minn. – On Monday, House Speaker Melissa Hortman announced the appointment of Rep. Peter Fischer (DFL – Maplewood) as the chair of the newly-created Behavioral Health Policy Division.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as chair of this new division,” said Rep. Fischer. “The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of behavioral health, which is often undervalued and underfunded. The creation of this division reflects our commitment to meeting the mental health needs of Minnesotans, during and after the pandemic.”
Rep. Fischer is currently chair of the House Water Division. Outside the Legislature, he works for a non-profit organization that serves homeless youth.
