Dear Neighbors,
I hope you all had a fun and safe Fourth of July weekend. We’re finally done with our budget work in both the Minnesota House and Senate, and to cover the legislation we passed into law, I’ll be joined by Sen. Ann Rest and Rep. Cedrick Frazier for our District 45 Town Hall this Saturday.
It’s been a long time since our last in-person Town Hall, and our first with Rep. Frazier on the district team. While I’m glad we were able to adapt to virtual events over the past year, I’m looking forward to seeing your faces and answering your questions from 10:30am to noon at the Crystal Community Center.
New Laws Take Effect
Some of the new laws passed during the regular legislative session went into effect on July 1. These relate to tax-forfeited land sales, pensions, and claims against the state.
Summaries of all laws passed by the 2021 Legislature in the regular session are available online from nonpartisan House Public Information Services here. New laws that go into effect from the legislation we passed in special session will be added to the list in the next few weeks.
Stay Connected
Regardless of whether you’re able to join us this Saturday, please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have about the bills we passed this session, or the work that remains. We’ll be back for a brief special session in September to allocate funds for essential workers, but besides that it’ll be a return to a regular legislative interim until we’re back in January.
You can contact me at rep.mike.freiberg@house.mn and at (651) 296-4176 (E-mail is preferred). I look forward to hearing from you, and I hope to see you this weekend!
Sincerely,
Mike Freiberg
