ST. PAUL – Representative Mike Freiberg (DFL-Golden Valley) has been selected as a Legislator of Distinction by the League of Minnesota Cities.
The legislators – 18 members of the Minnesota House of Representatives and 12 members of the Minnesota Senate – are recognized for working cooperatively with city officials to meet the unique needs of rural, suburban, and urban residents all across Minnesota. They are selected by the league's board of directors to recognize that "state and city officials must work together to meet the unique needs of rural, suburban, and urban residents all across Minnesota."
Rep. Freiberg was honored for being the chief House author of the League’s bill to make citizen contact information maintained on city listservs private data under the Data Practices Act.
“I was honored to carry this legislation for the League and for my constituents,” Rep. Freiberg said. “We must do what we can to protect our privacy. This legislation will mean that citizens who sign up for city listservs or mailing lists won’t have to be worried about their contact information being given to third parties.”
