Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and Passover, and you were able to enjoy time celebrating with your loved ones. Legislators are back in Saint Paul after being on break last week. Here is an update with the latest news from the Capitol.
Conference Committees Begin Work
The House and Senate have now passed all of their respective budget omnibus bills which will fund state government and its essential duties over the next two years.
The next step is now conference committees where appointed House and Senate members are beginning to compare similar provisions in the bills and negotiate to come up with a final compromise. My hope is that Governor Dayton and his agencies also participate in the conference committee process so that we can work through our differences to come to a final bipartisan agreement.
I have been named as a member of the Public Safety Conference Committee and am working with my fellow legislators to craft a commonsense bill that prioritizes the safety of Minnesotans and gives law enforcement the tools they need to serve and protect our citizens, communities and state.
I will keep you updated on budget bills as we work toward a final compromise. Please don’t hesitate to contact my office if you’d like to share your thoughts on budget bills. Your input is invaluable and helps me better represent the priorities of our community!

As always, please do not hesitate to contact my office if I can be of assistance to you or your family on a matter of state government. I am here to serve you!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Brian
