ST. PAUL, Minn. – On Friday, May 19, 2017, the Minnesota House of Representatives unanimously passed legislation authored by Rep. Brian Johnson, R-Cambridge, that will designate a segment of Trunk Highway 65 in Isanti County from 305th Avenue NE to the northerly limit of Cambridge Township as the Chip A. Imker Memorial Highway. Imker, a Cambridge firefighter, tragically passed away in a training accident in 2011 at the age of 35. He was also a member of the Army National Guard and a volunteer wrestling coach for Cambridge-Isanti High School. The bill will be sent to Governor Dayton for his signature.
“Chip Imker was a dedicated public servant, father and friend to many in the Cambridge community, and I am pleased we were able to get this initiative passed in the Legislature,” said Rep. Brian Johnson. “I am honored to carry this legislation on behalf of a hometown hero, his family, his friends and a community for which he gave so much. I am hopeful Governor Dayton will sign the bill into law.”
