ST. PAUL, MN—On August 1, 2017, a new law authored by Representative Brian Johnson, R-Cambridge, that renames a segment of Trunk Highway 65 in Isanti County the Chip A. Imker Memorial Highway will take effect. The stretch of highway runs from 305th Avenue NE to the northerly limit of Cambridge Township.
Imker, a Cambridge firefighter, tragically passed away in a training accident in 2011 at the age of 35. He was also a member of the Army National Guard and a volunteer wrestling coach for Cambridge-Isanti High School.
“Chip A. Imker was a friend to many and a dedicated public servant in the Cambridge community, and I am pleased that this new law will pay tribute to a hometown hero,” said Rep. Johnson. “It was a privilege to carry this legislation on behalf of his family and friends, and I hope when folks drive down Chip A. Imker Memorial Highway, they remember a man who gave so much to his community.”
