ST. PAUL, MN — Rep. Brian Johnson, R-Cambridge, Republican Lead on the House Public Safety Committee, issued the following statement regarding today's DFL Public Safety news conference.
"Democrats say that public safety is a priority but the reality is their internal caucus divisions have stalled any meaningful progress on the issue this session," Johnson said. "Democrats have yet to bring a single public safety bill to the floor, and none of their proposals would do anything to strengthen accountability for repeat violent criminals or the judges and prosecutors who are handing out light sentences that are putting dangerous individuals back on the streets and endangering the lives of Minnesotans."
