Dear Neighbors,
First, I want to congratulate the Pierz wrestling team on their runner-up finish at the State Wrestling Tournament last night. What an amazing season and run to the finals! Good luck to all our wrestlers competing in the individual tournament today and tomorrow!
Budget Forecast
The big news this week in St. Paul was the release of the budget forecast. We received the news that Minnesota is set to have a $1.65 billion surplus. For the near future, the economy seems to stabilizing. However, the bottom line may look good, but we need to get certainty to the businesses and entrepreneurs so that middle class wages will rise. We’ll also look to create a balanced education budget, while also caring for seniors and at-risk children.
Early Learning
Yesterday, I took part in a rally for increased early childhood learning. As you know, early childhood education is a passion of mine, and is one of the best ways to start young learners on a path to success. I’m supportive of flexible scholarships that go to families in need. Not everyone can afford early education for their kids, but I’m pushing so these families can receive scholarships from the state to help parents make the best decision for their child’s individual needs.
Fish Fry Friday
It’s back: Fish Fry Friday! If you’re hungry tonight, be sure to head out to Pierz for the first Lenten Fish Fry!
If your church or organization is holding a fish fry during Lent, please let me know and I’ll try to include it in my weekly update.
Have a great weekend,
Ron
