Dear Friends,
I hope you’re staying safe and warm as another round of snow is coming through tomorrow. Drive safe and slow on the roads, and always be sure to give snowplows plenty of room.
Now that we’re closing out the month of February, it means winter high school sports are starting their postseason. A big congrats to the Brainerd/Little Falls girl’s hockey team for advancing to the State Tournament in St. Paul! Unfortunately, our team fell to Edina, but we’re so proud of their season and for representing our area at state.
Legislative Session
We began the 2018 legislative session on Tuesday, and things are already moving quickly. Thank you to all who have contacted me about a variety of issues. Our shorter session means we have to pack a lot of items into just 12 weeks. Issues like federal tax conformity, tackling the opioid epidemic, and enacting child safety reforms will all be discussed this year. We’ll have a clearer outlook for the session when the budget forecast is released next week. I’ll be sure to keep you updated as this sprint of a session speeds forward.
Fish Fry Friday
It’s Lenten season, which means it’s time for some more Fish Fry Fridays! If you’re hungry tonight, be sure to check out the Kiwanis Fish Fry from 4:30-7:00 at the Little Falls VFW or Herbies Bar in Flensburg. If you want your local fish fry featured in my email updates, please send me the details and I’ll be sure to include it going forward.
Please Contact Me
As always, please call or email me with questions or ideas. I’ll be in St. Paul for much of the next few months, and hope you’ll contact me. Also, if you’re planning to visit, please schedule a time for us to sit down and chat; I’d love to hear from you.
Have a great, safe weekend,
Ron
