ST. PAUL, MN — Representative Ron Kresha, R-Little Falls, introduced House File 2884 on Thursday, the first day of the 2022 session. The bill provides more than $3 million in Public Facilities Authority funding for Swanville water improvement systems, allowing the city to design, construct, engineer and equip capital improvements to the city's drinking water system.
“Taking care of our water infrastructure is critical for our small towns, many of which can't afford to make these upgrades on their own, Representative Kresha said. "This funding will make sure residents have access to clean drinking water and will reduce the local tax burden."
In addition to constructing a better water system in Swanville, HF2884 sets aside funding for ground-level water storage tanks and pumping pressure systems to replace the existing tower, removal of that tower, installation of new wells, a water meter replacement and more. The bill was referred to the Capital Investment Committee, where it awaits its first hearing. More information on the bill can be found here.
