Rep. Kresha Encourages State Agencies to Disregard Gov. Walz’s Partisan Demands and Attend Committee Hearings

St. Paul, MN — Representative Ron Kresha, Education Finance Chair, has extended a warm invitation to both the Minnesota Department of Education and Education Representatives to attend the Education Finance Committee hearings.

“It has been reported to me multiple times that Governor Walz and the party bosses of the DFL are threatening repercussions to people who attend these committee hearings. I find this type of strongarm politics disappointing,” said Kresha. “The government process is not owned by anyone and I can assure the public that the Education Finance Committee will be efficient, productive, and free from divisive politics.”

Governor Walz continues to overstep his executive authority by trying to control the organization and function of the MN House of Representatives. This is a clear violation of the separation of powers in MN Government.

“The House of Representatives has the power and responsibility to organize itself and propose legislation. The governor will have an opportunity to review this legislation at the end of the session, not before,” said Kresha.
