CAMP RIPLEY, MN—The public is invited to attend the Minnesota National Guard's Women's Equality Day on July 20, 2014 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM. Rep. Ron Kresha (R-Little Falls) will be among the guest speakers, and will highlight his efforts at the Capitol to work with women entrepreneurs and help improve the small business climate in Minnesota. Kresha served on the Women's Economic Security Act conference committee and recently participated in the Women's Economic Summit in St. Paul earlier this year.
"Economic growth is being forged by small companies with employees of 10 - 100. These start-up companies need to have a clear path to prosperity without burdensome government barriers," Kresha said. "Because businesses run by women entrepreneurs are a growing, powerful force in our economy it is imperative that the tools and opportunity needed to grow are readily available to these women innovators, and that government isn't standing in the way of their success."
Other speakers include Barbara Battiste, the Director for Legislative Office on the Economic Status of Women and Patty Tanji, the President of the Pay Equality Coalition of Minnesota. Ms. Battiste will lead a discussion of how far MN women have come in achieving equality and economic security, and Ms. Tanji will lead a seminar focused on helping women boldly take advantage of new opportunities. Military members, families, friends, community members, and organizations are invited to attend the Women's Equality Day.
The event will be held at the Hanger Conference Center, 15000 Hwy 115, Bldg 8-195, Camp Ripley, Little Falls. Questions about the event may be directed to MSgt Theresa Mensinger
