ST. PAUL, MN—The House Ways and Means Committee approved $52 million in funding Thursday for the Health and Human Services budget in order to implement
recommendations from the Governor's Task Force on the Protection of Children. Assistant Majority Leader Representative Ron Kresha, R-Little Falls, issued the following statement regarding the committee action:
"House Republicans are following through on our commitment to protecting Minnesota children, and improving the laws and processes to ensure no child falls through the cracks of our child protection system," Kresha said. "I'm grateful for the support of my colleagues, and the bipartisan coalition of lawmakers, advocates, county workers, and other stakeholders who are committed to improving Minnesota's child protection laws. I am proud that politics were set aside to improve the safety of our children."
Kresha is the House GOP representative on the Governor's Task Force on Child Protection, which includes a member from each of the four legislative caucuses, and chief author of
House File 8, another child protection reform law passed unanimously by the House and Senate and signed into law by Governor Dayton earlier this year.
