ST. PAUL – A proposal sponsored by State Representative John Petersburg (R-Waseca) that would create the Corporal Caleb L. Erickson Memorial Highway was recently heard and approved by the Minnesota House Transportation Finance and Policy Committee.
“It is always important to remember and honor our American heroes, and Corporal Erickson was certainly that,” Petersburg said.
Petersburg’s bill would memorialize Corporal Caleb L. Erickson, who was killed in 2014 while serving in Afghanistan.
The plan would create a memorial along Highway 13 that runs through Waseca, designating it as the “Corporal Caleb L. Erickson Memorial Highway.”
In addition to its passage, the House transportation committee may also include Petersburg’s proposal as part of a comprehensive transportation package that will be unveiled later this year.
“I’m very pleased this memorial seems to have gained momentum in the House, and is also making good progress in the Minnesota Senate,” Petersburg said. “I am very optimistic that we will pass this legislation into law this session.”
