SAINT PAUL, MN—Representative John Petersburg, R-Waseca, was officially sworn-in for his second term Tuesday as the legislature began the 2015 session in St. Paul. The swearing-in ceremony took place in the House chamber. Members took the oath of office administered by Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court Lorie Gildea. Petersburg will continue representing District 24A which includes portions of Steele and Waseca County.
"I'm looking forward to what should be an exciting and productive 2015 session," Petersburg said. "I'm humbled to have the opportunity to continue representing our community, and to work on the important issues facing Minnesota."
Petersburg, who was first elected in 2012, was named Vice Chair of the Transportation Policy and Finance Committee last month. He will also serve on the State Government Finance Committee and the powerful Taxes Committee.
Petersburg lives in Waseca with his wife, Susan, and works as the church administrator of Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna. He is also a former school board member and former member of the Steele-Waseca Cooperative Electric Advisory Board.
