RELEASE: Backer Takes Oath of Office, Announces Committee Assignments for 2019-2020 Legislative Session
St. Paul – Minnesota’s 2019 Legislative Session officially began January 8th with Rep. Jeff Backer (R-Browns Valley) and 133 other state representatives being sworn into office during a ceremony at the State Capitol.
“It is an honor and a privilege to head back to St. Paul and get to work for the 40,000 folks that call District 12A home,” Backer said. “Once again, I look forward to the challenge of balancing the different needs and priorities of our district while helping to make sure that Minnesota remains an amazing place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Most of Rep. Backer’s work during the first months of session will take place in House committees. For the 2019-2020 legislative biennium, Backer will serve on the Jobs and Economic Development Finance Division, Environment and Natural Resources Finance Division, and the Health and Human Services Policy Committee.
“This biennium’s committee assignments give me the opportunity to work closely on the issues that matter most to my constituents like clean water, good paying jobs, and affordable health care options,” Backer said.
