Backer Takes Oath of Office, Announces Committee Assignments for 2025-2026 Legislative Session
St. Paul,?MN– Minnesota’s 2025 Legislative Session officially began January 14th?as Rep. Jeff Backer, R-Browns Valley, and 66 other state representatives took the oath of office during a ceremony at the State Capitol in St. Paul.?
“I am dedicated to serving my constituents effectively” Backer said. Backer will serve as the Republican chair on the Health Finance and Policy committee and will sit on the Human Services Finances and Policy committee. ?
One of Backer’s top priorities for the first month of session is making Minnesota affordable which is one of the six pillars house republicans will be focusing on this session. “Let’s put an end to the financial losses families face due to government fraud. We must cut unnecessary government spending to protect families from waste and the burden of rising inflation,” said Backer.
Backer will also be focusing on health policy, “it's time to recognize Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as the vital service it truly is, ensuring that everyone receives prompt and quality care when they call 911 in MN.”?
