WILLMAR, MN—Assistant Majority Leader Rep. Dave Baker, R-Willmar, issued the following statement congratulating area 2015 Farm Families of the Year. The Farm Family Recognition Program is coordinated by the University of Minnesota Extension; the College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Sciences; and the College of Veterinary Medicine and recognizes families from Minnesota's 87 counties who have made significant contributions to Minnesota agriculture and their communities. The 2015 Farm Family Recognition Program took place today at Farmfest.
The Larson Knisley Farm, owned and operated by Margaret Knisley and her family, was recognized as the 2015 award winner from Kandiyohi County. The Larson Knisley farm raises lambs as well as corn, soybeans, barley, hops, and alfalfa.
"Family farms like the Larson-Knisley farm are the backbone of our Greater Minnesota communities, and it's great to see their hard work and dedication to farming recognized at Farmfest. We need to be doing everything possible to support family farms and the agriculture community at the legislature, and make it easier for these farms to continue the important work of putting food on our tables and providing good-paying jobs that support families in every corner of Minnesota."
Baker is preparing a House resolution to send to the family to recognize their award.
