Dear Friends,
This week I was proud to host several of my colleagues who traveled to Willmar and gave me the chance to show off the city and county I am so honored to represent. On Tuesday the House Capital Investment Committee stopped to tour the University of Minnesota Poultry Testing Facility, as well as the potential Willmar Wye location and the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Services Facility.
Here we are at the Poultry Lab receiving an update on where things are at with the avian flu.
The next day members of the House Agriculture Finance and Policy Committees toured the Poultry Lab and had a working lunch at the Jennie-O Turkey Store.
I had a great time showing off our wonderful community to the visiting legislators, and am glad that they were able to hear from folks on the ground here in Kandiyohi County about the devastating impacts avian flu had on businesses and workers in our area.
Hoping to see everyone at the House of Representatives booth at the State Fair this coming Sunday, August 30 from 2PM until 4PM. I will be there along with my colleague DFL Rep. Jerry Newton from Coon Rapids. You can take the annual House opinion poll, chat with legislators, and see a replica of the speaker's rostrum and portrait of Abraham Lincoln that sits behind the Speaker's desk. If you'll be at the fair I hope you'll stop by.
Take care,
Dave
