Dear Friends,
We are officially in the final stretch of the 2016 legislative session as just two weeks remain until final adjournment. I am constantly meeting with members on both sides of the aisle as we work towards a final agreement on bonding, tax reforms for Minnesota families and small businesses, and a fix to our roads and bridges.
While the days here in St. Paul have gotten longer as we discuss important issues, I can say that there is not a member here who does not want to find a long term solution on our roads and bridges needs.
Local Students Visit Capitol
On Wedensday, 20 juniors and seniors from NL-S, ACGC, and Willmar High Schools visited Senator Lyle Koenen and myself at the Capitol in St. Paul. These students are members of a collaborative educational program called Kandiyohi CEO. For more information on this program, click here.
During their visit, students met with Speaker Daudt, lawmakers, and were recognized on the House floor.
Here, students are pictured outside the Capitol with Speaker Daudt and myself
Community Events
Today is the annual Spicer Banquet where Sabrina Lere will be honored with the citizen of the year award and Twin lakes Services, owned by Chris and Sarah Lester, will be honored as the business of the year. Congratulations to all who will be recognized and honored at this year's event!
I also want to wish a fun and safe weekend to all the high school students who are attending prom this year.
Lastly, this weekend is of course Mothers Day! It’s a day that we honor everything our mothers do to strengthen our families and communities. To all Mothers...Have a great day! And especially to my own Mom (Edna) in Aitkin County, thank you for everything. I love you more than you know!
Have a great weekend,
Dave
