ST. PAUL, MN—Minnesota House Republicans announced Tuesday a bonding proposal that prioritizes fixing local roads and bridges, higher education, and water infrastructure. Included in the proposal is funding for a new Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Services (CAHBS) hospital in the Willmar area as well as funding to develop an extension of the Glacial Lakes trail from New London to Sibley State Park.
“Ensuring that the CAHBS hospital remains open is vital to Minnesota’s mental health treatment system,” said Representative Dave Baker (R-Willmar). “As the only hospital of its kind in Minnesota—one that treats children and adolescents—it is of the utmost importance that we ensure that its doors remain open. Thank you to Chair Torkelson and the entire Capital Investment Committee for their commitment to this important project.”
The proposal includes $227 million for local road and bridge projects, $130 million for water infrastructure projects, and also includes $137 million for Higher Education, with a significant portion of that funding going to asset preservation.
