Dear Neighbors,
Here’s a short update from St. Paul:
Health Insurance Reform Passes
Heading into this session, one of my top priorities was helping those struggling to pay for their health insurance. I held listening sessions and heard from folks throughout the district and they wanted two things: lower costs and increased choice.
Our bill provides a 25% reduction of premiums for those on the individual market. We also fought for and passed reforms to ensure continuity of care as well as increased choice and competition to the health insurance system. I’m thrilled we could quickly pass this bill and provide immediate relief and reforms for Minnesotans. This is a great first step, and we’ll continue to look for ways to solve the health care crisis in Minnesota as session proceeds.
CABHS Visit
On Wednesday, I joined Senator Andrew Lang and Human Services Commissioner Emily Johnson Piper to tour the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Services (CABHS) facility. We also met with other interested parties to discuss the expansion of CABHS. I'm a longtime advocate of CABHS, and am encouraged to finally see the governor's support for this project. This has been an important issue for me during my time in the Legislature, and I look forward to working with Sen. Lang, Governor Dayton, and the great folks at CABHS to help build this new facility.
