Dear Neighbors,
Our Willmar wrestlers performed well in the state team tournament, but unfortunately fell in the consolation championship. The individual tournament finishes up tomorrow, and we wish all our local wrestlers good luck! We’re already proud of you guys; keep it up!
Opioid Awareness Day Video
Last week’s Opioid Awareness Day on the Hill was a big success for raising awareness of this dangerous illness. If you weren’t able to make it to St. Paul for the event, we made a short video with some of the day’s highlights. Feel free to click here if you’re interested.
Budget Surplus
On Tuesday, The Office of Minnesota Management and Budget released the state’s economic forecast. The good news is we have a $1.65 billion surplus. The bad news means the state has been overtaxing Minnesotans. One of my goals coming into this session was to work toward common sense tax relief that the governor will sign into law. We’re continuing to see this surplus grow, and we need to ease the tax burden on the middle class.
As a small business owner, I think it’s also important to implement policies that make our state more competitive to attract individuals and businesses to move here and expand. Encouraging economic growth in our state will continue to be an emphasis as we discuss the state budget in the coming weeks.
