Dear Neighbors,
The state’s fishing opener is this weekend. Despite the shutdown closing many businesses, I know many of you still plan to get out and enjoy Minnesota’s official start of summer. If you are planning to get out on the lake this weekend, I encourage you to order a great meal from a local restaurant working curbside pickup. Be safe and good luck!
I expect small retailers, restaurants, bars, salons, barbers, and other businesses will be open very soon. Ideally, May 18th will be the date that we see openings in a new and safe manner. When this happens, I hope healthy individuals will show up and support these local job creators like never before. Seeing small, local businesses forced to close while big-box stores thrive is heartbreaking. Many of us are working hard to get these businesses open in a safe and fast manner. The entire community misses going into your stores.
To every mom, grandma, and great grandma, I want to wish you a special day at a time that many families cannot be together.
Having been in the restaurant business for many years, Mother’s Day is always one of the best days of the year. Seeing this lost to the virus is sad, but not as sad as mom’s not being with their families. I hope something special is planned for your mother.
My amazing mom, Edna Mae, has been home in self quarantine in Aitkin with my father for eight weeks now, being extra careful. Our family is so grateful that they are taking this seriously. Happy Mother’s Day, momma. I love you so much and I hope to give you a big hug very soon!
Please continue to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a great day,
Dave
