St. Paul, MN—State Representative Dave Baker, R-Willmar, issued the following statement regarding a settlement reached with McKinsey & Company for its role in the opioid epidemic. Minnesota is set to receive $7.98 million as part of the settlement.
“This is great news for Minnesota’s ongoing efforts to combat opioid addiction and will help save lives,” said Rep. Baker. “The settlement is an important step in holding accountable those that were responsible for pouring ‘gas on the fire’ when greed and profits were more important than helping people. These funds will be used to help communities find ways to educate, offer treatment, and support the understanding that addiction is a disease that can be overcome.”
The $7.98 million judgement will be deposited into the state’s opiate epidemic response account that was created as part of 2019’s Opiate Epidemic Response bill.
