Dear Friends,
As a first-term member, it's exciting that we've entered the final weekend as the House and Senate work on a compromise to get our budget work done. I am pushing for and hope to see the best possible outcome for the residents of our state.
Earlier this evening, legislative leaders reached an agreement this evening on budget targets. Conference committees will be meeting around the clock, and we will be putting in long hours on the House floor to get our budget done for 2016-2017.
I've been meeting individually with members of the Transportation, Jobs, Education and other conference members on bills that are important to Kandiyohi County. Fighting avian flu, properly funding our K-12 and Higher-Ed schools, fixing our roads without raising taxes, are just a few of the issues I'm pushing for here as we wrap up our work on the budget.
We are on the House floor as we speak, and will have a marathon weekend. I hope will end by midnight Monday to meet our deadline. Here's a photo one of my colleagues took of Rep. Hamilton and I discussing avian flu funding.
I am proud to fight for this cause and this is what I signed up for. We are working hard and showing Minnesotans that shared government works, even though it can be bumpy at times.
Stay tuned....I will keep all of you updated as this weekend progresses. You have a right to be informed. Email or call with any questions you have.
